A superb, self-catering apartment for 1 - 4 people with stunning, panoramic views over the river below and the mountains beyond. The Pine Tops apartment occupies the entire top floor of Villa les Roches and has its own private entrance. There are 2 spacious en suite bedrooms; a large lounge with a choice of British or French TV and Wifi; a very fully equipped kitchen and a sunny veranda, (conservatory) with both relaxation and dining areas. Outside, an enormous private terrace is reserved solely for this apartment, equipped with garden table and chairs, sunbeds, parasol and barbecue and blessed with fabulous, far-reaching views.
Description of Chambres D'Hotes:The Pine Tops Holiday apartment, (l'Appartement au sommet des pins), occupies the entire upper floor of Villa les Roches, an imposing 3-storey Art Déco house. The centrally heated 96 sq. m apartment has its own entrance door in the lower veranda and is accessed via a private terrazzo spiral staircase. The apartment has fabulous views over the river gorge and verdant mid mountains all around. Contained within the apartment are: two large bedrooms, (the Framboise and the Prunelle) both with en suite bathrooms, a kitchen, a large lounge and an adjoining conservatory.
Unashamedly romantic, the 13.5 sq. m Framboise bedroom has a 180 cm wide bed which is topped with a draped coronet. The balcony window provides a gloriously panoramic view over the river gorge below. The 180 cm wide bed can be split into 2 twins if required, (please specify when you book). The Framboise bathroom contains a shower cabinet, washbasin and toilet, (no bath).
With two windows, the 16 sq.m Prunelle room is both luminous and spacious and catches the late afternoon sun. The north window has views over the river to the waterfall beyond. The bed can be arranged as a 180 cm. wide double but can be split into 2 twins, if required, (please specify when you book). The Prunelle bathroom contains a bath with shower inside, washbasin and toilet.
The 20.5 sq.m lounge has a balcony with views over the gorge and opens into the upper conservatory. There is ample seating, a woodburning stove, (for the colder season), a wide screen TV, with choice of UK or French satellite reception and Wi-Fi.
The 11.5 sq.m kitchen is fully fitted with oven and 4-plate hob, dishwasher, fridge with freezer compartment, microwave, toaster, slow cooker, steamer, filter coffee maker, jug kettle, iron & ironing board. Dining table and four chairs. (Note: Your washing machine is housed in the lower conservatory).With panoramic views over river valley and mid mountains, the 16 sq. m conservatory has wicker conservatory chairs and coffee table at one end and a wooden table and 4 chairs at the other, providing a delightful alternative dining space.
Guests in the Pine Tops Apartment have use of a very large terrace, (192 sq.m), with spectacular views over the surrounding pine clad hills, the river below and the town of Langogne in the distance. There is a garden table with chairs, sun beds, parasol, outdoor lighting and barbecue.
Attractions:The Robert Louis Stevenson Trail, The St James of Compostelle Way. Several villages classified as among "The Finest Villages of France": Pradelles, Arlempdes, la Garde Guérin, Ste Enimie. Many fabulous river gorges: The Tarn Gorges , the Gorges of the Chassezac, The Loire Gorges , the Allier Gorges and the Ardèche Gorges. Numerous lakes, some modern and some formed by ancient volcanic activity: Lake Naussac, Lake Villefort, Lake of Bouchet. Towns of note: Le Puy en Velay & Mende. Animal Parks: the Gévaudan Wolves, The European Bisons, The Przewalski Wild Horses. Attractions: The Little Tourist Train of the Allier Gorge, the cycle rail track at Pradelles, the exquisite little ArentelleTheatre at St Flour de Mercoire. Sports: Golf: 9 hole course at the Domaine de Barres, 2 minutes away. The Garde Guérin 9-hole golf course 37 kms away. Fishing and waymarked walks are everywhere. DirectionsYou will find the house on the southern outskirts of Langogne, in the direction of Mende on the N88. Approaching north>south: Just after the last houses of the town, you will see a sign on a wall for Chambres d’Hôtes, Les Roches. After that sign, the house is only 250m on the left of the N88, down a tiny, winding lane, (sign at entrance). You will see the house almost as soon as you enter the lane.
Approaching south>north: Do not enter the town of Langogne - Villa les Roches is on the right hand side, down a tiny lane, 250m before the first houses of Langogne, (signposted Chambres d’Hôtes, Les Roches). Please note that the right turn into the lane is VERY sharp!
