There are plenty of local ski resorts that cater for all levels of skiers and snow boarders and they are generally open from December to Easter. The picturesque scenery of the Pyrénées can be enjoyed at ski resorts such as Peyragudes (a lovely resort with long runs and panoramic views), Luz Adriden, Val Louron, La Mongie (largest resort in the French Pyrénées), Superbagnere at Luchon and St Lary. Most are only one hour away from Le Froment, leaving plenty of time for a lazy breakfast and you can still be on the mountain for 10am. Or, if you prefer, you could travel a little further and ski in the Spanish Pyrénées. For the Nordic skier, there are many cross-country resorts, with Val d’Azun being the biggest in this part of the Pyrénées. Painting. For the budding or professional artist there is plenty of scope to capture the magnificent French scenery on canvas. In our grounds alone we can spot many species of birds of prey or for a greater variety you could venture into the Pyrénées or, the protected site of Puydarrieux 7 kms away. Here you should be able to see Curlews, Hawks, Buzzards, Cranes, Red and Black Kites, Egrets or Storks, depending on the time of year. In the winter, sometimes over 500 cranes return to the lake at dusk. For the more adventurous, other activities include, para gliding (where you can soar over the Pyrénées), white-water rafting, canoeing, canyoning or mountain climbing. House hunting.
