4 Quai Amiral Douguet
Built over 300 years ago "The Old Salt House" in Port Launay in the region of Finistère, Brittany is nestled on the banks of the river L'Aulne with outstanding and uninterrupted views over the countryside.
Description of Chambres D'Hotes:The Nantes-Brest Canal runs in front of the property, providing opportunities for cycling, walking, fishing and sailing. Restaurants, bakery and bars are 3 minutes walk. Situated close to picturesque Châteaulin (hypermarket, bars/restaurants etc), National Parc Armorique and the many beautiful beaches on the bay of Douarnenez.
Sympathetically restored by British craftspeople The Old Sat House oozes charm and character and has so many nooks and crannies that every day gives a new insight into the beauty of the house.
It has style and grace that flows from the front door to the top of the house. It is like an adventure walking around and it makes you smile each time you enter a room!
To wake up in the morning looking straight out to the waters that glisten and shadow the surrounding houses is like waking up in a fairytale story. Sometimes you just do not want to get out of bed!!... At the rear of the property we have a patio / decked area for guests use.
Having the Boulangerie next door is lethal for us and all that come to stay but its like a magnet drawing you in with the beautiful cakes and pastries and homemade breads...there is one strict rule in our home and that is "NO DIETING"
The local supermarkets are well stocked with fresh produce and the fish is caught locally and the meats are so fresh that you are spoilt for choice but one thing we do miss is Bovril and Heinz sauce!!!.......as much as we love France and the people and its surroundings im afraid some things I would go back for so we now buy in the case load and bring it back from the UK!!.
So what are you waiting for??.......come and join us for the most magical experience of your life whether its just for a weekend break or Honeymoon or Property searches or even a treat for a family member then we can assure you of a true warm welcome that you just will not want to leave!!

'Bay of Douarnenez' "If it's beaches you like, then you can choose one a day for a fortnight and still not have seen them all. The nearest is Pentrez with a 2.5 kilometre flat sandy beach plus shops and cafes. St-Anne-la-Palud has one bar in the middle of 2km of sand and a Michelin starred restaurant at the southern end." 'Coast path' "If you like the South West Coast path or the Pembrokeshire Coast path in the UK, the coastal paths in near Port Launay equal or surpass their British cousins. Don't miss Pointe de Dinan on the Crozon peninsula." 'Oceanopolis, Brest' "Rated one of the best aquaria in the world, this is a good family day out 30 minutes away" 'Quimper' "The medieval town of Quimper has ancient buildings, including its imposing cathedral, modern shops and a variety of art galleries and museums. You can take a boat trip down the River Odet or even the TGV to Paris for a short break!"
REviews for Old Salt House , Port Launay:
